I'm Jess, Jessie, and sometimes even Jessica (but only if you're angry with me... and I hope that is never).

I am a (not-so) newlywed in her mid-twenties, a mama to two fur babies, a first-time homeowner, and a life-long DIYer. I came from a family where we had little of everything and we went without more times than not. When you grow up in those types of situations, you're either very bitter or you learn to be really creative with what you do have. It's probably why I am the way that I am. I survey items and my first thought is always -- could I make that? And if so, could I make it as good, if not better, than the original? That goes for all things -- pillows, curtains, necklaces, bags, even cheesecake. If the answers are yes, then I go for it... AND SO SHOULD YOU.

Spool and Spoon is my happy place. It's this little slice of the interwebs where I can describe my latest crafting adventure and gush about a new recipe. Occasionally, you'll find me sharing some little highlights from my everyday life, some favorite finds at fun shops, or raving about something so minuscule that I can't even classify it into a topic right now.

I craft. I bake. I sew. I pin. I cook. I paint. I design. I have entirely too many things to enjoy, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

All of the hassles of being a grown up sometimes get in the way of the things I adore, but I manage to squeeze in some playtime whenever I can. Everyone needs an outlet and Spool and Spoon is mine. I look forward to sharing all of the little things I do and I hope you get inspired to try some projects along the way, too.
